# Celestials

Celestials include all creatures native to the [upper planes](/the-world/planes-of-existence.md#upper-planes).

The races of celestials are:

* [Animavians](#animavians)
* [Elani](#elani)

## Animavians

Animavians are similar to mammals. However, unlike their counterparts from the [inner planes](/the-world/planes-of-existence.md#inner-planes), animavians have feathered wings and humanoid-like intelligence.

## Elani

Elani are humanoid creatures of extraordinary beauty, halos, and light. On average, they are 2 meters (6.6’) tall, with fair hair ranging from pure white to light brown and skin ranging from pale to almost ebony. They have no facial or body hair. Their eyes are generally shades of blue or gold. Most are slender and lithe, weighing 65 to 80 kg (143 to 176 lb), yet they are deceptively strong. Their feathered wings match the color of their hair and span 2 to 2.5 meters (6.6’ to 8.2’).

Elani are ageless and can live many thousands of years. They always appear to be of an age similar to a human of 20 to 25 years, and it is not known whether they are born or created. The few that call the Splinterlands home tend to live either in small communes of three to five or in solitude. They rarely mix with other races. Contrary to popular myth, not all are good-aligned protectors of life; their motives are as varied as those of any race.
